Denise Koch was born and raised in rural southern Michigan. From an early age, she has been captivated by animals, particularly dogs. This interest led her to work in the kennel business for 11 years. She worked for a professional handler of (American) Cocker Spaniels, a breeder and exhibitor of Weimaraners, a retired breeder and AKC judge of Chihuahuas and an all breed boarding and training facility. Arbor Hills Pet Care of Ann Arbor, Michigan provided Denise with hands-on experience with a variety of breeds and mixes, canine anatomy and behavior. She was the assistant manager there for 6 wonderful years.
A move to Wyoming forced Denise to give up her career in the pet industry and replaced it with the opportunity to learn the art of lost wax bronze casting. For the past 10 years, she has been developing her skills as a sculptor, specifically a sculptor of dogs. Her work has been accepted into the Loveland Invitational Sculpture Show since 2003 and added to private collections across the country. Denise is exclusively represented by Eagle Bronze Gallery of Lander, Wyoming.
Denise and her husband, Scrooge- (yes, Scrooge), enjoy living near the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. They have one dog, an Alaskan Malamute named Dodge. While Denise is the sculptor, Scrooge enjoys the title of "Art Roadie"- he loads the truck, drives the truck and unloads the truck. Watch for our show schedule, maybe you'll see us on the road!
